Porcelain Veneers

The placement of porcelain veneers is accomplished in two visits spaced out across a period of around six weeks. Such visits are truly comprehensive and sometimes mandate multiple hours of examination and tooth prep. Michael D. Levy’s dental office has the amenities necessary to properly sedate you, ensuring you are fully relaxed and comfortable as your porcelain veneers are placed. However, dental health issues must be addressed prior to the point at which the veneers are placed on the teeth. The dentist will help you choose the optimal veneer color to match your teeth. This is accomplished with imaging technologies. Once the exam is complete, treatment commences. The dentist preps the teeth by removing half a millimeter of tooth enamel so the veneers can be added to the teeth for the perfect fit, resulting in a strong bond.

An impression of the teeth is sent to a dental lab. A temporary veneer is placed to safeguard the dentin. Once the permanent veneers are made, they will be bonded following the removal of the temporaries. Acid gel is applied to dissolve surface minerals on the teeth, generating a rough surface that facilitates bonding. The bonding agent is then added, followed by an affixing of the porcelain veneers to the front of the teeth. A curing light is used to ensure the dental cement hardens. The end result is a gorgeous new smile you are proud to show off in public settings.
